Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, ND - The Joliet JackHammers got a four-hit, complete game shutout from starting pitcher Rory Shortell and pounded out 15 hits en route to a 11-0 thrashing of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
Shortell (2-4) had great command of his pitches, not allowing a walk in the game. Of the 116 pitches he threw, 75 went across for strikes. He also struck out four RedHawk hitters.
The JackHammers (31-26) got to Fargo-Moorhead starter Matt Mossey (3-3) early. Joliet put ten runs on the scoreboard off Mossey in the first four innings, seven of those earned. The righty allowed ten hits while striking out three and walking one over 3.1 innings of work.
Shortstop Kevin Rios was 4-for-5 on the night for Joliet and also drove in three runs. Slugger Jon Nelson went 3-for-6 for the JackHammers and extended his hitting streak to 16 games.
The RedHawks (34-21) committed two errors in the game and now lead the Northern League with 61 miscues.
The two teams will wrap up their weekend series tomorrow afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm. Joliet will send Devin Anderson (3-2, 5.14) to the mound while Tyler Seaman (1-0, 2.63) will get the nod for Fargo-Moorhead.
