Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors lost 6-4 against the Everblades after having a 4-1 lead with 13:52 left in regulation.
Andrew Yogan opened the scoring halfway through the first period with his ninth of the year. Kenndal McArdle broke into the zone after receive a pass from Brandon Wong and left a rebound for Yogan to push pass Rob Madore. David Rutherford scored his 14th goal of the season just 2:02 later to tie the game at one. Rutherford's goal came on the man advantage after Jyri Niemi took an interference penalty.
Brandon Wong scored twice in the second period with his 16th and 17th of the year to bring the Road Warriors on top 3-1 heading into the third. No penalties were assessed in the period and the Everblades outshot the Road Warriors 10-7 in the second.
Jason Wilson scored his first of the year to open the third period. Marc-Olivier Vallerand dumped the puck into the zone which drew Madore out of the net. The puck took a strange carom off the boards which went to Wilson to shoot into the empty net. Mathieu Roy began a scuffle with Niemi that provided a jolt to the Everblades bench. Both players were taken off four minutes for a roughing call as the referee and linesmen separated the two. Aaron Bogosian took that momentum to score his fifth of the year and began a five-goal third period. Matthew Pistilli tied the game at four with two goals in the period; the first coming on the powerplay. Roy added the game winner and his 13th of the year with 1:10 left. Alex Hutching would close the game with an empty netter and his tenth of the season to secure the 6-4 victory. Madore stopped 24 of 28 shots to collect the victory. Scott Stajcer lost his second game this season with 39 saves on 44 shots.
