Florida Swaps Forwards; Recalls Kennedy and Assigns McArdle

(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled forward Tim Kennedyfrom the Rochester Americans and assigned forward Kenndal McArdle to the American Hockey League team. In a related move, the Panthers also reassigned defenseman T.J. Fast to Rochester from the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones.

Kennedy, 24, earns his first call-up to the Panthers since being acquired by Florida from the New York Rangers at the NHL trade deadline. The 5-foot-10, 176-pound forward can potentially make his Panthers debut tonight when Florida hosts the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the BankAtlantic Center.

Kennedy leaves the Amerks as the team's current active top point-getter with 43 points (12+31) in 56 combined American Hockey League games with Rochester and Hartford/Connecticut this season. Selected by the Washington Capitals in the sixth-round (181st overall) in 2005, he has played in 79 National Hockey League games for Buffalo (2008-10), scoring 10 goals with 16 assists and 50 penalty minutes. During the 2009-10 season, Kennedy led all Buffalo rookie forwards in goals (10), assists (16), points (26) and shots (98). The Buffalo, N.Y. native played three years of college hockey at Michigan State University, winning an NCAA Championship in 2007. Kennedy paced Michigan State in scoring in back-to-back seasons (06-07 and 07-08).

McArdle returns to Rochester after his fourth stint with the Panthers in 2010-11. The 24-year-old has appeared in 11 games with Florida this season, including five to start the campaign. In 33 career NHL games, all with Florida, the Toronto, Ontario, native has scored one goal and added two assists for three points along with 47 penalty minutes. A 2005 first-round selection (10th overall) of the Panthers, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward has played in 47 games with the Amerks this season, recording 23 points (13+10) and 94 penalty minutes.

Fast makes his second stop in Rochester this season after recording 27 points (9+18) and 36 penalty minutes in 55 games with the Cyclones. Fast, a 2005 second-round selection (60th overall) of the Los Angeles Kings, currently leads team defensemen and is tied for 10th among ECHL rearguards in overall scoring.

A third-year pro, the Calgary, Alberta, native was acquired by the Florida Panthers in an offseason trade in August that sent forward Graham Mink to the St. Louis Blues. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound blueliner has appeared in 69 AHL contests over the last two seasons, including five with the Amerks this year.

The Amerks kickoff their first of three games in as many nights on Friday, March 11th as they play host to the Toronto Marlies in a North Division showdown at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be the seventh of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
