Moose Finalize Clear Day Roster
March 8, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
Today, the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced their finalized Clear Day roster that was submitted prior to the American Hockey League deadline on Monday, March 7th at 3:00 ET.
According to AHL by-laws, only those 22 players (20 skaters and two goalies) listed on a team's Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remaining five weeks of the 2010-11 AHL regular season and in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts, only after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.
The complete list of Clear Day rosters can be found on www.theahl.com.
The Moose made one move prior to the deadline, loaning centre MacGregor Sharp to the Abbotsford Heat on March 4th in exchange for defenceman Keith Seabrook.
Sixteen of the AHL's 30 teams qualify for the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, the top four from each division. For the first time, a cross-over format could affect who qualifies in both the Eastern and Western Conferences. Last season, only the Eastern Conference employed a cross-over format.
If the fifth-place team in the West Division finishes with more points than the fourth-place team in the North Division, it would cross over and compete in the North Division playoffs. Same rule applies to the Atlantic and East Divisions, respectively. For complete qualification rules and up-to-date standings, as well as for Calder Cup history, records and all-time championship rosters, visit www.theahl.com.
