MANKATO, Minn.--The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, started out the season at home on the right foot by pulling out a 10-5 victory over the St. Cloud Rox.

The MoonDogs had a solid start to the game by scoring the hard way. Kyle Turner did his job as a lead off man as he got on base by a hit by pitch. After a pass ball on a Flores strikeout, Turner reached third base with only one out in the inning. Blair Moore realized the situation and hit the ball on the ground to record an RBI with Turner scoring the games first run.

The game was a battle back and forth at this point between pitchers struggling to find the strike zone. The outcome of the game was going to be decided by timely hits. Jorge Flores did just that with a game breaking double in the second inning to add on two more runs after the MoonDogs had already added two that inning. The MoonDogs have been surprising teams with their extra base hits thus far in the season. Tonight three MoonDogs recorded a double, and one pounded out a triple. All hits eventually were drove in for runs.

The MoonDogs travel to St. Cloud for Saturday, June 2 at 7:05 p.m. against the St. Cloud Rox at Joe Faber Field. For more information, visit our website www.mankatomoondogs.com or call the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047.
