Brockton, Mass. - Freddy Flores (6-5) took a no hitter into the top of the seventh inning on the way to a complete game shutout as the Brockton Rox (13-6, 39-26) topped the Rockland Boulders (7-11, 26-38) 2-0 in a game that tied the mark for fastest in league history at one hour and 48 minutes.

Flores was spectacular in the winning effort, allowing just three hits, while walking and striking out two.

Ryan Mollica broke up the no hitter with one out in the seventh on a line drive to left-centerfield, snapping a streak of 15 consecutive batters retired by Flores that began following Barry Wesson's walk to lead off the second frame.

Ryan Knippschild (0-2) lasted a complete eight frames in the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out two. The Rox did their damage on four straight hits in the second inning, before the southpaw settled down through the middle frames, retiring eleven straight at one point.

Trey Hernandez opened the second with a single and then Melvin Falu followed, dropping down a bunt for a hit. With two on base, Chris Grossman doubled, plating Hernandez and then a single by Dan Barbero scored Falu, making the score 2-0.

The second pitchers duel between the Rox and Boulders in as many nights took place before the largest crowd of the season at Campanelli Stadium, totaling 4,373.

The series rolls along into Saturday night for game three between John Kelly (0-0, 0.00) and Jonathan Velasquez (4-4, 5.45). Kelly, the Rox all-time strike out leader, returns to Brockton for his first appearance in a Rox uniform since 2009 after spending 2010 with the Worcester Tornadoes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
