Fort Worth Cats News Release

Pedro Flores threw seven scoreless innings as the Cats defeated Pensacola 2-0 on Tuesday night at LaGrave Field.

The win was the Cats' second in a row over the Pelicans and 10th this season against Pensacola.

Flores escaped trouble early on by extracting double plays in both the first and second innings. He retired the final two batters in the fourth as well with a man in scoring position to keep the game scoreless.

The Cats scored the only two runs in the game in the fourth inning as Jake Gautreau was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Nelson Teilon followed with a single, John Allen grounded out to the pitcher before Charles Carter reached on an error by the first baseman, allowing Gautreau to score the first run of the game. Teilon then scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Cats a 2-0 advantage.

Flores (8-1) wound up allowing six hits while striking out six and walking three in seven strong innings. Brian Martin, appearing for the fourth straight game, threw a scoreless eighth and handed the ball over to closer Jon Hunton, who worked a 1-2-3 ninth to secure his 15th save of the season.

Zach Cline (3-7) suffered the loss as he permitted two runs, one earned on three hits in seven innings of work.
