Darryl Strawberry Headlines American Association All-Star Game Celebration

ST. PAUL, MN (July 8, 2008) - Former St. Paul Saint and eight time Major League All-Star Darryl Strawberry will highlight the two-day American Association All-Star festivities in St. Paul July 21-22 presented by Medica.

Strawberry will headline the All-Star Luncheon to be held at the host hotel, The Crowne Plaza - St. Paul Riverfront, on Tuesday, July 22 from noon to 2 p.m. The luncheon will feature the introduction of the best of the American Association, the 2008 North and South Division All-Stars, and Strawberry will deliver the keynote address. The event is open to the public and the cost is $50.for the reception.

The former Saints outfielder who appeared in 29 games for the club in 1996 will serve as honorary captain of the North Division team during the game later that night. Midway Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. and the All-Star festivities will begin at approximately 5:15 p.m. with a skills competition and home run derby. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Following the game is a fireworks extravaganza.

The Saints have also finalized plans for the nine-hole All-Star Golf Tournament on Monday, July 21 at Highland National Golf Course. This event is open to the public and the cost is $50 per person and includes green fees, cart and a boxed lunch.

The All-Star team was announced on Monday and was voted on by managers and media members throughout the American Association.
