Lincoln 4, Sioux City 1 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

Lincoln used a four run fourth inning and a fine pitching performance by Jarrett Gardner to take game one of the doubleheader 4-1. Gardner went all seven innings and improved to 5-3 on the season. Sioux City's Dusty Bergman allowed three hits in the second inning but managed to keep the Saltdogs off the scoreboard. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Lincoln broke through and used a walk, four singles, a sacrifice fly, and a double by 1B Dustin Yount to score four times. Bergman's record fell to 0-11 on the season with the loss. Yount reached base all four times he came to the plate as he finished 2-for-2 and drew two walks.

Shreveport 5, St. Paul 4

HR: SHR- Adam Hale (4), Terrence McClain (5)
RF Adam Hale and LF Terrence McClain each went deep to help Shreveport get past St. Paul 5-4. Russell Savickas struck out five and scattered eight hits over seven innings and left with a 5-1 lead. But St. Paul had success against the Sports relievers including closer Trey Poland who faced eight batters in the ninth inning. The Saints pushed across two runs and cut the lead to 5-4 before Poland struck out 3B Ben Thomas with the bases loaded to end the ballgame. Savickas got the win and improved to 3-4. Poland's save was his ninth of the season. McClain finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while St. Paul SS Tony Mansolino and 1B Tim Brown also collected three hits apiece.

Fort Worth 2, Pensacola 0

Fort Worth used an infield single by RF Chuck Carter and an unearned run which crossed home plate on a wild pitch to slip past Pensacola 2-0. The Cats were victorious despite registering just three hits in the contest. Pedro Flores continued his fine season as he struck out six over seven shutout innings to improve to 8-1 on the year. Zach Cline pitched well for the Pelicans but was saddled with the loss to fall to 2-6 with Pensacola. He pitched seven innings and surrendered just one earned run. Closer Jon Hunton worked a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his 15th save.
