Florence, KY - A hot and humid Independence Day welcomed 2,123 fans to Champion Window Field. Before the game, I caught up with Freedom Shortstop Josh Sanchez.

How do you like being compared to a "Human highlight reel"?

I guess its ok, I just play every game like its my last.

How do you like being the Freedom's defensive stop in the infield?

Confident pitchers feel comfortable when their defense backs them up, so its great.

The first pitch came in at 7:10. Ohio Valley got the scoring started in the first, as Kaliko Oligo scored on an error by Josh Sanchez. But the Freedom would not be shut-out for long, in the second, Scott Pickens smacked a three run jack, and the Freedom took the lead 5-1. The next score also belonged to the Florence, as Darrin Kinsolving came through with a two run single, more on him later. Top of the fifth spelt trouble for Florence, as Nick Batkoski smacked a two run jack to make it a 5-3 ballgame. Bats were silenced until Ohio Valley knotted things up at Five with a Jud Richards two run bomb. In the ninth inning no one was able to take the lead, so we are going to extras. There was no score until the bottom of the 13th, with runners on the corner, Darrin Kinsolving had an ugly game winning hit, to lead the Freedom to a 6-5 victory, keeping hold of first place in the Frontier League East division.

I had a chance to catch up with the tonight's hero.

Whats it like to come up with the game-winning hit?

Kinsolving: It's great, I just stepped up, it wasn't pretty, but the bottom line, we won.

Starter for Florence Joel Posey went seven innings giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, while striking out eight. Teddy Rowe came in for great releif, he pitched five innings with only two hits, while striking out a whopping eight batters. Mike Galloway went 1-3 with a walk, he got hit by a pitch, and he scored two runs. But the Player of the game goes to tonight's hero, Darrin Kinsolving, batting 3-7 with three RBIs, and the game-winning hit.

Tomorrow the game will be at a special time, 12:35, as extended lunch hour day kicks into gear. Gates open 11:30 at Champion Window Field.
