Flames Return To The Quad Cities Following Road Trip

Moline, IL- The Flames return to the i wireless Center this week for their first home games in March. On Wednesday night, the Lake Erie Monsters come to the Quad Cities for the first time. The Flames split a pair of road games vs. Lake Erie in November. Friday night, the Flames are back on home ice for the first game of a home-and-home series with Iowa. The set with the Stars continues on Saturday in a game that will be broadcast statewide by Mediacom.

The Flames begin the week looking to break out of a losing skid. Quad City dropped a 2-1 decision in Peoria last Tuesday and a 5-3 game in Chicago on Saturday. Last week's set backs extended the Flames losing streak to three games, a franchise record.

Monday, March 10th at 6:00 p.m.

The Flames return to The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge tonight at 6:00 p.m. Ryan McGill, Kris Chucko, Matt Keetley and Gord Baldwin will join host Aaron Roof. The show can also be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC.

Wild Wednesday returns to the i wireless Center this week. Fans can purchase upper bowl tickets for just $5.00 at the i wireless Center Box Office. During the game, 12-ounce draft beers will be available for just $2.00.

Friday, March 14th vs. Iowa at 7:05 p.m.

The Flames host a St. Patrick's Day celebration on Friday night as the Iowa Stars visit. The first 2,500 fans at the i wireless Center will receive Quad City Flames St. Patrick's Day T-Shirts presented by projecttshirt.com with support from Old Chicago, McManus Pub, O'Keefe's, Greenbriar and Tailgater's Pizza. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Tailgater's Pizza at 419 15th Street in Moline is hosting a pre-game party for Flames fans. It's also a Dispatch and Rock Island Argus Cheer Card Night featuring Adam Pardy. Fans will receive an Adam Pardy Cheer Card when they enter the arena. After the game, Pardy will sign autographs for fans.

Road Game Viewing Party at Bleacher Bums in Davenport and Parkside Grill and Lounge in Moline

Saturday, March 15th vs. Iowa at 7:07 p.m.

The Flames invite fans to follow the team on the road via b2 Viewing Parties at Bleacher Bums in Davenport or Parkside Grill and Lounge in Moline. Drink specials will be offered at both locations. Fans in attendance at Bleacher Bums can purchase $5 domestic pitchers or buckets of beer for $12. Bleacher Bums is located at 3811 N. Harrison Street in Davenport, across the street from Lujack's. Parkside Grill and Lounge is located at 2307 5th Avenue in Moline.

The Flames split a pair of road games vs. the Monsters in November. After beating Lake Erie 4-3 in a shootout on November 10th, the Flames returned five days later and were shutout in a 2-0 loss. The Monsters will be at the i wireless Center twice this month as the teams conclude their season series.

Friday, March 14th vs. the Iowa Stars

Saturday, March 15th vs. the Iowa Stars

7:07 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA

A home-and-home series with the Stars begins a stretch run in which the Flames will face the Stars six times in the course of 29 days. Over the course of the first six meetings between the teams, Quad City is 5-1-0-0 including a perfect 3-0-0-0 record at the i wireless Center.

Flames On WYEC 93.9 FM

The Flames game broadcasts can be heard on FM radio as 93.9 FM WYEC will carry all 80 games, all playoff appearances and the Flames weekly radio show. This week's games will be preceded by the Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show beginning 25 minutes prior to face-off. After the game, stay tuned for the Kinetic Fitness Post-Game Show. The Flames Forum returns to the air tonight at 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 4th - Quad City Flames 1 at Peoria Rivermen 2

The Flames allowed a late goal for the third time on their current road trip on Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to Peoria. This time, Micki DuPont burned the Flames as he scored the game-winning tally in the series finale between the squads. David Van der Gulik scored the Flames only goal as the team fell to 29-24-2-7 on the year. David Van der Gulik scored the only goal of the first two periods when he slid past a pair of Peoria defenders to sneak a shot past netminder Marek Schwarz at 7:55 of the middle frame. The tally was the 14th goal of the year for Van der Gulik. Peoria scored twice in the third period to secure the victory. Nicholas Drazenovic scored his 11th goal of the year on the power play when he swatted home a rebound following a point shot by Jim Jackson. The Rivermen took the lead for the first time with just 2:16 left in regulation. Micki DuPont took a shot from the left wing circle that deflected up and over Curtis McElhinney and floated into the back of the Quad City net. The goal stood up as the Rivermen improved to 6-3-0-1 on the season vs. Quad City.

Saturday, March 8th - Quad City Flames 3 at Chicago Wolves 5

The Flames losing skid reached three games on Saturday night following a 5-3 loss in Chicago. Quad City allowed a late third period goal to Darren Haydar that put the Wolves in front. Derek Couture, Grant Stevenson and Brett Sutter provided the Flames goals. The teams traded opening period markers. Andre Deveaux scored at 5:38 of the opening period to stake the Wolves to a 1-0 lead. The goal came following a tic-tac-toe passing sequence between Deveaux and his linemates, Kevin Doell and Colin Stuart. Derek Couture put the Flames on the board at 7:55 of the first when he recovered a dump in off the Wolves end wall and lifted a shot over Wolves netminder Robert Gherson. The Flames went on to kill off four Chicago power-play opportunities in the first frame to preserve a 1-1 tie. The Flames hopped out to a 3-1 lead early in the second period on goals by Grant Stevenson and Brett Sutter. Stevenson scored on the power play at 2:39 of the period when he tipped home a Tim Hambly point shot. Sutter followed with a shorthanded goal at 4:43 of the middle frame. Tomi Maki chased down a loose puck and fed Sutter for his fourth goal of the year. The Wolves rebounded with a pair of goals in a span on 20 seconds during the middle stages of the second. Joe Motzko scored on a Wolves power play at 11:35 of the period. Deveaux followed that marker with his second goal of the night to knot the score at three. Deveaux's goal came on a goal-mouth scramble with assists to Kevin Doell and Colin Stuart. The Wolves won the game in the third when Darren Haydar wired a shot past Curtis McElhinney following a turnover inside the Quad City zone. Jordan LaVallee added an empty netter with seven seconds left to set the final at 5-3.
