Amerks Head Into Two Thruway Battles

(Rochester, NY)... After starting off their long string of road games with a pair of losses in the Lone Star State, the Rochester Americans to look to improve their record this weekend with the third and fourth of their five consecutive away games this month.

Rochester's weekend begins on Friday, March 14th as the Amerks take on the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The 7:30 p.m. contest is the ninth of 12 scheduled meetings between the divisional rivals and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The Amerks fell 3-1 in their last meeting with the Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter on March 1st. Rochester is 2-5-0-1 this season and 78-63-15 all-time against the Columbus Blue Jackets' affiliate.

The weekend ends the night of Saturday, March 15th, as the Amerks head to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena to take on the Binghamton Senators. This thruway battle is the sixth meeting between the two teams. Rochester has not yet collected a win against the Sens this season, falling 4-0 in its last meeting. The 7:05 p.m. contest can be heard on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK and whtk.com immediately following the Rochester Knighthawks' National Lacrosse League game and live on B2 networks. The Amerks are 18-21-4 all-time against the Ottawa Senators' affiliate.

Last week, Rochester went 0-1-1-0 in its long distance road trip, changing its record to 18-37-5-4. The Amerks have earned three points in four games thus far in the month of March.

Friday night saw a 3-2 loss for the Amerks against the San Antonio Rampage. Stefan Meyer and Clarke MacArthur gave Rochester an early lead with a pair of goals. Tyler Plante worked hard between the pipes, making 34 saves on the night.

A 3-2 overtime loss against the Houston Aeros could be seen at the Toyota Center on Sunday evening. Peter Aston scored first for Rochester in the middle of the second period. Dylan Hunter forced overtime with the tying goal halfway through the third with help from Mark Mancari and Mike Weber.

Mancari's assist on Sunday adds a point to his team lead of 43 points (15+28). In a close second is Marc-Andre Gragnani with 40 (9+31). Gragnani is currently ranked fifth for points among league rookies after recently going on a 10-game point streak. Additionally, Gragnani's 31 assists are a team best.

The Amerks' return home on Friday, March 21st at 7:35 p.m. as the Grand Rapids Griffins head to Rochester. This contest falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies. Fans can enjoy live music from the Ozone Rangers in the main lobby of The Blue Cross Arena up until gametime. As part of the festivities, fans can purchase special packages courtesy of Zweigle's. The package includes Four (4) 200 Level End seats, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and 4 magazines. It may be purchased through the Amerks office at 585-454-5335 or through The Blue Cross Arena Box Office. Students can show their college ID at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office and receive a $16.00 ticket for $10.00 or a $12.00 for just $8.00. Friday Night Frenzies begin at 6:15 p.m. in the main lobby of the Blue Cross Arena.
