GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Joey MacDonald made 47 saves on 50 shots, but couldn't get the 'Dogs (11-10-4-0) past the Adirondack Flames (15-10-1-0) in a 3-2 overtime loss at Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, N.Y. on Wednesday night.
Flames forward Max Reinhart got his team on the board first at 3:40 of first period with a shot from the right faceoff circle. Forward Turner Elson and defenceman Ryan Culkin had assists on the play.
Less than a minute later, Bulldogs forward Connor Crisp found defenceman Davis Drewiske with a no-look backhand pass and Drewiske fired a wrister past Flames goaltender Joni Ortio to notch his first goal as a Bulldog and tie the game 1-1. Defenceman Joe Finley was credited with a second assist.
After a scoreless second period which saw 35 shots on goal between the two teams, Hamilton forward Charles Hudon fought off two Flames to bury a wraparound goal for his team co-leading ninth of the year to make it 2-1 'Dogs at 5:53 of the third period. Forward Drayson Bowman had the only assist.
With just over four minutes to go in the third period, Adirondack forward Sven Baertschi tied the game at 2-2, with an assist from forward Taylor Vause.
Reinhart notched his second goal of the game on his seventh shot of the game 2:16 into overtime to win it for the Flames, 3-2. Defenceman Corey Potter and forward David Wolf had assists.
