
Blue Jackets Defenseman Cody Goloubef Activated off Injured Reserve, Loaned to Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Cody Goloubef off Injured Reserve and loaned him to the Springfield Falcons on a conditioning assignment, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club also has assigned left wing Kerby Rychel to the Falcons.
Goloubef, 24, collected two penalty minutes in three games this season with the Blue Jackets before suffering a knee injury on Nov. 1 at New Jersey. The Oakville, Ontario native was Columbus' second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft and played in five games with the Blue Jackets in 2013-14, while adding 28 points (7g, 21a) with 98 penalty minutes with Springfield in 2013-14. He has 70 points (18g, 52a) and 232 penalty minutes in 198 career AHL games with the Falcons.
Rychel, 20, made his NHL debut on Nov. 29 at Nashville and picked up three assists and two penalty minutes in four games with the Blue Jackets. The club's second first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, he registered his first NHL point on Dec. 1 vs. Florida and his first career multi-point game with two assists on Dec. 4 at Florida. The Torrance, California native has also recorded 13 points (6g, 7a) and 30 penalty minutes in 21 outings with Springfield. Rychel spent the past four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, tallying 272 points (122g, 150a) and 264 penalty minutes in 256 games with Mississauga, Windsor and Guelph.
Goloubef and Rychel will be available when the Falcons take on the Syracuse Crunch tonight at 7 p.m.
