Lancaster Stormers News Release
LANCASTER, Pa.-Five Lancaster Barnstormers have been selected by fans, the media and league executives to play in next Wednesday's Atlantic League All-Star Game at Sovereign Bank Stadium in York.
Leading the pack is first baseman Tommy Everidge, who presently tops the league with 13 home runs, 22 doubles and 132 total bases. The former Oakland Athletic is batting .297 and has driven home 36 runs, half of which have either tied the game or given the Barnstormers the lead.
Designated hitter Fernando Seguignol has also been named to the Freedom Division squad. The switch hitter from Panama is batting .300 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI, good for third in the Atlantic League. A model of consistency, Seguignol has not gone back-to-back games without a hit the entire season.
Second baseman Gilberto Mejia is the other position player chosen to represent the Barnstormers. A specialist with the glove, Mejia has also contributed offensively, batting .234 with three homers, 31 runs scored and 25 RBI. The native of Bani, Dominican Republic, presently ranks third in the Atlantic League with 17 stolen bases.
Ross Peeples will be making a return trip to the All-Star Game. The left-hander is tied for the Lancaster lead in wins with six in his first season as a starting pitcher since 2005. Overall, he is 6-3 with a 5.20 ERA. Peeples, in his seventh year with the Barnstormers, holds the franchise record in appearances and is second in career wins.
Rounding out the Lancaster contingent is reliever Justin Segal. Segal is on pace for setting the Lancaster franchise record in appearances, getting into 31 games this season. The right-hander from California is 3-1 with a 4.60 ERA in 47.0 innings of work.
The Freedom Division will host the Liberty Division in the game, set for 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 13 at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
Four of the five Barnstormers selected for the Freedom Division roster will represent Lancaster in York. Seguignol will be unable to attend the All-Star Game due to personal reasons.
