
Fisher Cats take series finale from Portland 7-2

(Portland, Maine) - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (27-28) used a five-run second inning and took the series finale from the Portland Sea Dogs (29-23), 7-2 on Thursday night at Hadlock Field. Portland dropped two of three to the 'Cats, and continue their homestand on Friday night against Altoona.
Righty Marcus Walden (4-5) tossed six strong innings on four hits and one run, earning his third win in as many starts against Portland this season. Drake Britton (3-5) took the loss for the 'Dogs, giving up five runs (one earned) on seven hits and seven strikeouts over 5 innings.
Kevin Ahrens led New Hampshire's 12-hit attack, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two doubles. Portland's Xander Bogaerts, the top position prospect in the Red Sox system according to Baseball America, finished 1-for-2 with a double and sac-fly.
The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead off Walden in the first. Shannon Wilkerson led off with a double and scored on a two-out single by Michael Almanzar.
New Hampshire sent nine batters to the plate against Britton in the second. Kevin Nolan led off, and reached on an error by Bogaerts. After a single by Sean Ochinko, Ahrens tied the game with a run-scoring single. Jacky Murphy, Kevin Pillar and Brian Van Kirk had RBI doubles. Amadeo Zazueta pitched in with an RBI ground out.
In the seventh, Brad Glenn and Ahrens had back-to-back run-scoring hits off Pete Ruiz. Portland scored the game's final run in the eighth. Ryan Dent doubled and scored on a sac-fly by Bogaerts

The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate) on Friday night at Hadlock Field beginning at 6:00 PM. Knuckleballer Charlie Hager (1-2, 4.30) takes on Right-hander David Bromberg (2-4, 3.77)
