New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Reading, PA - Moises Sierra went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, but the Fisher Cats fell 5-4 to Reading on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Despite the loss, the Fisher Cats took three of the five games played to win the series.
Reading (22-15) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Rizzotti drew a two-out walk and Cody Overbeck followed by drilling the first pitch from B. J. LaMura for his Eastern League-leading 11th home run and a 2-0 lead.
The Fisher Cats (22-14) cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second inning. Moises Sierra singled and moved to third on a single by Ricardo Nanita. Sierra (2-for-3) scored on a passed ball.
The Phillies, who have hit a league-leading 42 home runs on the season, took LaMura deep twice in the second inning. Carlos Rivero walked and Derek Mitchell and Fidel Hernandez hit consecutive home runs to put Reading in front 5-1.
New Hampshire rallied in the top of the fourth inning. Anthony Gose led off with a single and Mike McDade walked. Sierra singled home Gose to make it 5-2. After John Tolisano walked to load the bases, Yan Gomes' sacrifice fly scored McDade to cut the R-Phils lead to 5-3.
LaMura (2-3), after the shaky start, finished his outing with four scoreless innings. He left after working the first six, allowing seven hits and five runs. He walked four and struck out four.
Mike Hinckley and Alan Farina combined to pitch three innings of scoreless relief.
J.C. Ramirez (5-2) picked up the win, working eight innings, allowing five hits and three runs, walking two and striking out three.
Phillippe Aumont earned his third save. Sierra homered off Aumont to lead-off the top of the ninth inning to make it 5-4. The Fisher Cats then loaded the bases on a single by Nanita, a single by Gomes and an intentional walk of pinch-hitter Travis d'Arnaud. But Aumont struck out Darin Mastroianni and Adeiny Hechavarria to end the game.
