
Fisher Cats complete sweep of Connecticut, 7-3, Thursday afternoon

Norwich, CT -The New Hampshire Fisher Cats completed a three-game sweep of the Connecticut Defenders by posting a 7-3 victory at Dodd Stadium Thursday afternoon. Adam Lind went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, extending his Eastern League-leading hitting streak to 12 games.
New Hampshire (22-29) erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring four times in the fifth inning against Connecticut starter Chris Begg (4-5). Eric Arnold, Carlo Cota and Tony Miller delivered consecutive run-scoring singles before Cota scored the fourth run of the frame on one of Begg's two wild pitches.
Mike MacDonald (5-3) earned the win, allowing one run on six hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out three and walked one, upping his record to 3-0 with a 2.59 ERA this season against Connecticut (27-24).
Danny Hill (1.1 IP-2 R -0 ER), Jim Bullard (0.1 IP -0 ER), Rodney Ormond (1 IP -0 R) and Tracy Thorpe (1 IP -0 R) all were solid in relief.
Lind extended his hitting streak with an RBI double against Defender reliever RD Spiehs in the seventh inning that scored Miller (1-for-2, 2 BB, RBI, 2 R) from first base.
The Fisher Cats scored two more runs in the ninth inning against Billy Sadler. Cota and Miller walked, Lind singled home Cota, and Miller scored on Curtis Thipgen's ground-rule double.
Thigpen (2-for-5, RBI) and Erik Kratz (1-for-3, R, 2 BB) both hit safely in their eighth consecutive game for New Hampshire, which has its second four-game winning streak of the season.
Tyler Von Schell and Travis Ishikawa had RBI singles, and Nate Schierholtz added a run-scoring ground out for Connecticut.
New Hampshire continues its road trip with three games this weekend in Altoona. Friday night, left-hander Kurt Isenberg (1-6, 5.72) matches up with Curve southpaw Mike Connolly (5-3, 4.07) at 7:05pm. Broadcast coverage is available by logging onto www.nhfishercats.com.
