
Fisher Cats beat Trenton 6-1 as Kenny Rodriguez earns first Eastern League win

Manchester, NH- Scott Campbell hit a two-run homer and drove in another run with an RBI single as the Fisher Cats beat Trenton 6-1 before 4,939 Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Kenny Rodriguez, in just his second Eastern League start for New Hampshire, worked six innings to pick up the win. He allowed one run on four hits, walked four and struck out two batters.
With the win, New Hampshire (33-55) snapped a season-high nine-game losing streak.
Trenton (53-35) tallied the first run of the game in the top of the third inning. Cody Ehlers and Joe Muich walked to start the frame. Muich was erased on a fielders choice ground out by Reegie Corona with Ehlers advancing to third base. Ehlers scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramiro Pena.
The Fisher Cats took the lead for good with three runs off Trenton starter George Kontos (3-9) in the last of the third inning. Kyle Phillips (3-for-4, 2B, R) singled and went to third on a single by Brian Jeroloman (2-for-3, 2 R, BB). Scott Campbell then tied the game with an RBI single. Travis Snider followed with an RBI double, scoring Jeroloman and Campbell to put New Hampshire in front 3-1.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Jeroloman doubled off Kontos before Scott Campbell hit a two-run homer onto the access road beyond the right field fence. Campbell's fifth home run of the season put the Fisher Cats up 5-1.
New Hampshire's final run scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. David Smith singled, moved up to second when Jacob Butler was hit by a pitch, and scored on an RBI single to centerfield by Ryan Patterson.
Orlando Roman and Jared Gothreaux provided excellent relief work for the Fisher Cats, combining on three shutout innings for New Hampshire.
The Fisher Cats wrap up the four-game series with Trenton on Monday night at 7:05pm. RHP Brandon Magee (1-11, 5.81) starts for New Hampshire against Trenton LHP Chase Wright (6-2, 3.13).
