Harrisburg Senators News Release

Altoona, PA - LHP Mike Hinckley played a key role in the Harrisburg Senators' 5-3 victory over the Altoona Curve, Sunday at Blair County Ballpark. In his first appearance since being sent back to the bullpen, Hinckley worked 5.2 effective innings to pick up the win. William Bergolla and Seth Bynum homered for Harrisburg.

The Senators snagged the momentum with three runs in the 1st inning. Bergolla drilled a one-out solo homer to make it 1-0. Leonard Davis reached on an error and stole second base. A groundout moved him too third base. With runners at the corners, the Senators executed a double-steal to plate Davis and make it a 2-0 Harrisburg lead. Garrett Guzman's RBI single up the middle extended the advantage to 3-0.

Altoona wasted no time in the bottom of the 1st. Chris Duffy led off with a double. After a pair of strikeouts, a pair of walks loaded the bases and LHP Justin Jones was taken out of the game. Hinckley came on and walked the first batter he faced to cut the margin to 3-1, but retired the next batter to end the inning.

Bynum blasted a solo homer in the top of the 2nd to make it a 4-1 game.

Harrisburg struck with a two-out rally in the top of the 6th. Edgardo Baez walked and came around to score when Guzman followed with a double off the fence in right field to give Harrisburg a 5-1 lead.

The Curve sliced into the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Luis Cruz and Jason Bowers led off with back-to-back singles. Melvin Dorta followed with a pinch-hit RBI single to make it a 5-2 game. Duffy lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Bowers and cut it to 5-3.

The Senators dodged a major bullet in the bottom of the 8th. The Curve had runners at the corners with nobody out, but RHP Steve Schmoll induced a line-drive double play and a popout to stifle the rally.

Harrisburg had chances to add onto the lead in the 8th and 9th, but left the bases loaded in both innings.

Hinckley (5-3) picked up the win. RHP Adam Carr delivered a scoreless 9th inning to snag his fourth save of the year as a Senator. RHP Derek Hankins took the loss to drop to 1-6.

The Senators improved to 48-39. The Curve dipped to 37-50.

The Senators and Curve finish the series Monday at 7:05 PM. RHP Craig Stammen (0-1, 2.45 ERA) starts for Harrisburg against Altoona RHP Yoslan Herrera (5-7, 2.87 ERA).
