Two Former Senators Named MLB All-Stars

July 6, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - Former Harrisburg Senators LHP Cliff Lee and OF Milton Bradley were named American League All-Stars on Sunday. Lee is having a resurgence with the Cleveland Indians while Bradley is thriving in his first season with the Texas Rangers.

Lee, 29, is 11-2 with a 2.43 ERA this season for the Indians. He has revitalized his career after injuries led to a down year in 2007 in which he went 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA for the Tribe. Lee was demoted to Triple-A Buffalo for eight starts in late July and August last year.

Lee was dominant for Harrisburg in 2002, going 7-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 105 in just 86.1 innings. That same season, Lee was traded from the Expos with OF Grady Sizemore, 1B Lee Stevens and INF Brandon Phillips to the Indians for RHP Bartolo Colon. Lee made his major-league debut that September.

Bradley, 30, is hitting .320 with 17 homers and 54 RBIs in his first season with the Texas Rangers. He has bounced back after sustaining a torn ACL in his knee last season while arguing a call with an umpire as a member of the San Diego Padres.

As a Senator in 1999, Bradley hit one of the most dramatic home runs in the history of minor-league baseball. He came to the plate in the decisive fifth game of the Eastern League Championship Series with the bases loaded, two out and the Senators down 11-8. Bradley hammered a 3-2 pitch over the fence in right-center for a walk-off, championship-clinching grand slam to give Harrisburg a record fourth consecutive Eastern League championship. He made his major-league debut in 2000 with the Expos.

The Senators return home to Commerce Bank Park on Tuesday for a seven-game homestand against the New Britain Rock Cats (Double-A Minnesota Twins) and the Bowie Baysox (Double-A Baltimore Orioles). The games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday begin at 6:35 PM. To order tickets, call the Senators box office at 717-231-4444 or order online at senatorsbaseball.com.
