Fisher Cats beat Sea Dogs 4-2 Saturday night

(Portland, ME)--- Brian Jeroloman hit a three-run home run and Adrian Martin (1-1) pitched six scoreless innings and earned his first Eastern League win as the Fisher Cats beat Portland 4-2 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.

Martin, who was making his third start of the season, allowed three hits, walked one and matched his season-high with four strikeouts. Danny Farquhar earned his sixth save, working 1.1 scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts.

In the top of the fourth inning, Nick Gorneault led off with a home run down the line in left field to make it 1-0. David Cooper then singled, followed by a single to right field for Brad Emaus (3-4, R). Jeroloman then hit his sixth home run off losing pitcher Blake Maxwell (1-6) to make it 4-0 in favor of the Fisher Cats (40-48).

Portland (42-45) scored its first run in the bottom of the seventh inning against reliever Celson Polanco. Lars Anderson doubled and scored on an error.

The Sea Dogs cut the lead to 4-2, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Jorge Jimenez, scoring Josh Reddick who had reached on an error. The Fisher Cats continue the series on Sunday afternoon in Portland. New Hampshire sends right-hander Randy Boone (5-5, 4.28) to the mound at 1:00pm. The Sea Dogs are expected to start RHP Ryne Lawson (1-7, 6.44).. Radio coverage begins at 12:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

Following the Eastern League All-Star break, the Fisher Cats return to Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Thursday, July 16, to open a four-game series against the Northern Division-leading Connecticut Defenders at 7:05pm on Jewish Pride Night.
