Manchester, NH-Sergio Santos hit a three-run homer in the third inning and a dramatic walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning as New Hampshire took the opening game of a weekend series with Bowie 6-4 Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Santos (2-for-4, 5 RBI) hit a ninth inning home run Thursday night in Trenton, as the Fisher Cats ended the Thunder's 11-game win streak. His first homer of the game Friday night tied the score at 3-3. His game winning shot off reliever Fredy Deza (1-3) came with two outs.
Jesse Carlson (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn a win for the second straight day.
Bowie (13-14) had taken an early 3-0 lead on an RBI double by Oscar Salazar in the first, and a two-RBI double by Paco Figueroa in the second. The Baysox went ahead 4-3 in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Brian Bock. New Hampshire (14-9), winners of six straight at home, tied the game at 4-4 on John Schneider's RBI single in the fourth.
David Smith and Aaron Mathews each added three hits in the contest for the Fisher Cats.
The Fisher Cats continue the three-game series against the Bowie Baysox Saturday afternoon. Left-hander Chris Waters (0-2, 4.78) pitches for Bowie against New Hampshire right-hander Jesse Litsch (3-1, 1.19) at 1:05pm. Radio coverage begins at 12:45pm with Bob Lipman and Mike Murphy on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (610-AM, Manchester; 930-AM, Rochester; 1540-AM, Exeter).
