Trenton Thunder News Release

(New Britain, CT)- New Britain's Felix Molina collected an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Rock Cats to a 2-1 win over the Trenton Thunder on Friday night. The loss gives the Thunder (19-4) consecutive losses for the first time in 2007.

The Thunder took a 1-0 lead in the 5th Inning off Rock Cats starter Brian Duensing. Three singles produced the run with Matt Carson driving home Justin Christian for the lead. But Duensing kept Trenton in check for most of the night. He retired the first 12 batters of the night and finished the game with five hits allowed over eight innings. Duensing had six strikeouts with no walks.

New Britain (11-10) tied the game against reliever Mike Gardner in the 6th Inning. Singles by SS Trevor Plouffe and LF Garrett Guzman started the frame. After a wild pitch, 3B Brian Buscher delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1. The game stayed tied because the Rock Cats were 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position in the first eight innings.

In the 9th Inning, Trenton's Jeff Kennard walked C Korey Feiner to start the inning. Pinch-runner Rashad Eldridge moved to 2nd Base on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Molina, which gave him seven straight games with at least two hits. Kennard (0-1) took the loss allowing one run in two innings of relief. New Britain's Danny Powers (1-2) worked a scoreless 9th Inning for the win.

The series continues on Saturday at 6:35 PM. Jeff Marquez (3-1, 1.24) starts for Trenton against New Britain's Brad Baker (1-0, 3.38).
