Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
WINNIPEG, Man. -- The Winnipeg Goldeyes (46-52) walked off to take the opening game of the series and utilized a complete game gem from Edwin Carl to take two from the Saltdogs (34-55) in front of 4,211 fans at Shaw Park Sunday afternoon.
Saturday night's series opener was suspended due to rain after nine innings with the score tied at 5-5.
The game resumed Saturday afternoon, and after the Saltdogs were unable to score in the top of the 11th with the free runner in scoring position, Winnipeg won the game on a Casio Grider single in the bottom half.
Carl (6-1) struck out 11 batters, allowing just one run on six hits to earn the victory in a complete second game of the season-ending set.
Juan Medina went 2-for-3 in game two and has now hit safely in eight consecutive ballgames.
Omaha native Dylan Badura fired two scoreless innings of relief for the Saltdogs in his club debut.
The season finale is Monday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 1:05 p.m. on KFOR FM 103.3/1240 AM.
