Fish Claim Delmonico, Waive Nixon

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that infielder Tony Delmonico has been claimed off waivers from the Laredo Lemurs and right-handed pitcher Rob Nixon has been placed on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting his release.

Delmonico, 28, hit .265 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 28 games with Laredo this season. He played the last two seasons in the Frontier and Atlantic League's, hitting .322 with 17 home runs and 78 RBI in 153 games. In the second half of last season with Schaumburg in the Frontier League, he hit .356 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 40 games and helped the Boomers win the league championship.

Delmonico is a former sixth round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008 and played four seasons in their system, reaching Class A-Advanced Rancho Cucamonga.

The Goldeyes have 22 players on their active roster, including 11 pitchers and 11 position players.

After last night's 20-13 win, the Goldeyes are back at it tonight in Sioux Falls for the second game of a three-game series against the Canaries. Winnipeg returns home Monday to begin a seven-game homestand.
