
First-Place Curve Return For Promotion-Packed Homestand

CURVE, Pa. - Earth Day, Blue-White Giveaway Night, a first-ever Diamond Dig, and the first School Kids Day of the year combined with a special offer for late shift workers, highlight the second homestand of the season for the Altoona Curve, which begins on Thursday April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. with the first of four games against the Erie SeaWolves (AA-Detroit Tigers).
On Thursday, the Curve hosts Earth Day and is encouraging fans to bring their old computer products to be recycled and donated to the Skills of Central PA. It's also a Weis Buy Thursday and a Thirsty Thursday at BCB presented by Rocky 104.9. Weis Preferred Shoppers' Card holders will receive $2 off Grandstand tickets when purchasing at the box office. Once inside the park, fans can enjoy 16 oz. Yuengling drafts for just $2 and small sodas for $1.50.
Friday night will feature a Blue-White Football Schedule Magnet Giveaway to the first 2,000 fans courtesy of Student Book Store of State College and WTAJ-TV A pair of $50 gift cards to Student Book Store will also be up for grabs. After the 6:30 p.m. game, kids will have an opportunity to run the bases and the Ball Launch Game will be played to benefit Miracle League of Blair County. Prizes from Panera Bread, Johnny on the Spot Car Wash, Dominic's of New York, and The Summit will be available.
On Saturday, in order to cater to fans who may want to attend Penn State's Blue White Spring Football game that afternoon, the Curve game against the SeaWolves will begin an hour later than normal at 6 p.m. Fireworks will light up the sky following the contest, kids will once again be able to run the bases, and the Miracle League Ball Launch game will be played.
Sunday will bring the first-ever Diamond Dig to Blair County Ballpark thanks to Dorman's Jewelers. A diamond from Dorman's will be hidden somewhere on the Curve warning track and the first 150 ladies (age 18 and over) will be picked to come down after the game and dig up the diamond of their dreams. It's a great day for kids at the ballpark, too, as the second Youth League Clinic of the season will be held in the morning. It's also a Kids' Club Sunday presented by Galliker's complete with an exclusive autograph session for club members.
After the weekend series with the SeaWolves, the Akron Aeros (AA - Cleveland Indians) will make their first trip to BCB in 2010 beginning Monday. The series begins with a Mirror Monday presented by the Altoona Mirror. Fans can save money on tickets with the coupon from the front page of the sports section in the Altoona Mirror.
Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles will take place on Tuesday with two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorn.
The series and homestand conclude with the first School Kids Day of the season, a 10:30 a.m. start, on Wednesday. In addition to school kids, the Curve and Froggy 98 are also teaming up to invite second and third shift workers to the game with a special $1 discount on Grandstand and UPMC Health Plan Outfield Reserve seats purchased at the box office. Froggy 98's Polly Wogg will be broadcasting live from 7:00-9:30 a.m. and the Curve will be handing out Panera breakfast coupons to the late shifters.
