Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pensacola Pelicans are proud to announce the start of the first-ever Pelicans Fall Baseball League in Pensacola. The league will run through the months of September and October and end with an end-of-the season tournament to wrap-up the inaugural league.

Try-outs are set for Saturday, Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Pelican Park at the University of West Florida. An alternate try-out date is Thursday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. for those players who will not be able to make the weekend sessions.

All high school baseball players are welcome to play. No one will be turned away and all players will get their opportunity to play.

Pelicans players and former University of West Florida players will be the coaches and instructors of the teams. Each team will play a minimum of six games, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Pelican Park.

Fall leagues are common in most parts of the country. They provide an arena where a player can stay in shape and develop skills prior to the high school season regardless if a person is an incoming freshman looking to make the high school team or a senior looking to play college ball.

The cost of the clinic is $250, which gets them a league hat and t-shirt and pays for the umpires, field usage, and insurance.
