Diablos trip Cats 6-2

Kory Drew was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in as the Diablos defeated the Cats 6-2 Tuesday night at LaGrave Field.

The Cats, however won five of six on the homestand and head to St. Joe for the final four games of the season needing only one win or a Coastal Bend loss to clinch an outright playoff spot.

Fort Worth took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Tony Mota. The Diablos, however, rallied to score twice in the fourth, three times in the fifth and once in the sixth to take a 6-2 advantage.

Jorge Alvarez had two hits and an RBI and JP Schmidt scored twice and had two hits to pace the El Paso offense.

Chris Trevino (3-2) earned the win as he permitted two runs on six hits in seven innings pitched. Kevin Hull (7-4) suffered the loss as he gave up four runs on five hits in four innings.

Fort Worth and St. Joe meet Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. for the first in a four-game series. Cory Walters goes for the Cats and Donovan Graves takes the hill for the Blacksnakes. El Paso returs home to play Coastal Bend in a six-game set to close out the season.
