Fireworks, Canadian Baseball Night, and Mark Emmert Appreciation Night Highlight Captains Three-Game
June 30, 2014 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will begin a three-game home stand tomorrow, July 1 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays).
Tuesday is the second annual Salute to Canadian Baseball where the Captains will celebrate Canada's favourite pastime not played with a puck and stick, eh. The night coincides with Canada Day which celebrates the birthday of Canada. On July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act - formerly known as the British North America Act.
On this date, fans who wear an Expos or Blue Jays cap will be admitted free to the game, because like all Canadians, we are welcoming of all individuals to Classic Park. Upon entering the stadium for their big night "ooot", fans will receive a Blue Jays and Expos baseball card depicting past players who donned the uniforms of these two iconic clubs. Throughout the game, the Captains will give away prizes from Canadian-based baseball clubs to fans who are holding lucky player cards.
In-game promotions will include trivia contests, a Maple Syrup Chugging contest and Canadian Tuxedo Denim Shirt toss. As an added bonus, the winner of the Captains Charities 50/50 Raffle Game that night will also take home an authentic Vancouver Canadians Road Jersey, which on-field host Grover! will don throughout the evening.
In addition to enjoying listening to both French and English-speaking public address announcers, fans who show their passports may purchase half-price LaBatt beverages and the Captains will also be offering Canadian Bacon-wrapped hot dogs.
Wednesday is the nationally-acclaimed Mark Emmert Fan Appreciation Night. Captains fans will spend the night as if they were college student-athletes, including receiving permission to move from their seat location designated by their ticket, subject to a one inning waiting period, if they desire a different view.
Prizes will be handed out during the game, including "one and done" player basketball cards and college sports video games, while others in attendance will receive copies of the publication "Undue Process - The NCAA's Injustice For All".
There may even be a Booster Handshake to fans who wear their "generic" college jersey that may or may not correspond to a famous athlete.
The homestand concludes as the Captains present a pre- Independence Day Fireworks extravaganza on Thursday with the fireworks set to a patriotic soundtrack.
Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday, presented by Labatt Blue and ESPN 850 WKNR and features a .25-cent Labatt Blue Happy Hour from 6 PM until game time at 7 PM, and half-price domestic draft beer and fountain soda specials until 9 PM.
As part of Thirsty Thursday, the Captains will also offer an all-you-can eat wing and pizza buffet outside the Corona Castaways Bar for only $13.
Individual game tickets are on sale at the Classic Park box office, online at captainsbaseball.com and by phone at 440-954-WINS (9467). Full season tickets plans, 7-, 12-, 20-, and 35-game mini ticket plans for the 2014 season are on sale now at great prices complete with several exclusive benefits.
