
Dragons Announce Batter/Pitcher of the Month Nominees

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons have announced their nominees for the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for June. Fans can go to www.daytondragons.com to vote for the players whom they who they feel are most deserving of the award based on the month.
Each month, three hitters and three pitchers will be selected as nominees based on their performances on the field. The winning players will be honored on Wednesday, July 9th during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon on Thursday, July 10th at Frisch's, 8181 Springboro Pike in Miamisburg, at 12:00 noon. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.
Below are the nominees for June (statistics for June games only; through games of June 29):
Hitter of the Month Nominees:
- Phillip Ervin (outfielder): Batting .266 with six doubles, four triples, two home runs, eight runs batted in, 13 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .519 and an on-base percentage of .352 in 22 games.
- Jon Matthews (outfielder): Batting .373 with two doubles, one triple, one home run, 10 runs batted in, 13 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .467 and an on-base percentage of .434 in 21 games.
- Tanner Rahier (third baseman): Batting .333 with six doubles, one triple, one home run, eight runs batted in, eight runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .480 and an on-base percentage of .333 in 20 games.
Pitcher of the Month Nominees:
- Joel Bender: Posted a record of 3-0 with one save and a 2.00 earned run average in nine relief appearances. In 9 innings, allowed 9 hits with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.
- Amir Garrett: Posted a record of 2-0 with a 2.70 earned run average in five starts. In 26.2 innings, allowed 19 hits with 4 walks and 24 strikeouts. Also has one complete game shutout.
- Dan Langfield: Posted a record of 0-0 with a 0.60 earned run average in five appearances. In 15 innings, allowed 8 hits with 6 walks and 22 strikeouts.
