Fireflies Release 2022 Schedule

COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia Fireflies, in conjunction with the Low-A East League and Minor League Baseball, today announced their 2022 schedule. The season is slated to start at Segra Park on Friday, April 8 vs the Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) and end at Segra Park on Sunday, September 11 vs the Charleston RiverDogs (Tampa Bay Rays).

The Fireflies will play 132 total games across 156 days with 66 coming at home. During those 66 games, Columbia will welcome three teams to Segra Park for the first time as they collide with the Down East Wood Ducks (Texas Rangers) April 19-24, Carolina Mudcats (Milwaukee Brewers) June 14-19 and Salem Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) August 23-28.

The schedule format remains similar to the 2021 schedule, with six game series against opponents and Monday off days, with one exception July 4 on which the Fireflies will play at home that Monday and be off on Tuesday before continuing the series Wednesday through Sunday. The Fireflies will play two three-game series in 2022, starting the season off with a three game Opening Weekend against Augusta April 8-10, and battling Augusta again for three games July 22-24.

Season highlights include the above-mentioned July 4 match-up at Segra Park vs the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs) and a four-day mid-season break July 18-21. The Fireflies will also travel to new locations for the first time ever as they visit Lynchburg May 24-29, Salem May 30-June 5, Down East July 12-17 and Carolina August 30-September 4.
