ABOUT LAST GAME: The Fireflies began a three-game series with Lexington on Tuesday night but stumbled out of the gates. Columbia lost the opener to the Legends by a final score of 7-6. Giovanny Alfonzo recorded his first three-hit game of the year and David Peterson (the Mets 1st round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft) did not allow an ER over 5 innings.
THE STREAK: Jeremy Vasquez reached base again on Tuesday. Vasquez has reached base safely in all 24 games he's played in this season - the best streak for all of Low-A and is the fourth-longest active streak in all of pro baseball (MLB & MiLB).
1. 27, Odubel Herrera (Philadelphia Phillies)
2. 25, Logan Taylor (Modesto Nuts, SEA, A+)
3. 25, Tyler White (Fresno Grizzlies, HOU, AAA)
4. 24*, Jeremy Vasquez (NYM, A)
He is one of the most patient hitters in the SAL, too - he's first in the league in walks (20) and second in on-base percentage (.460). The 24-game on-base streak is a new franchise record, passing the prior mark of 17 set during the 2017 season.
CHEERS: Vasquez was named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for April 23-29. The lefty slugger hit .360 (9-for-25) with five extra-base hits (three 2Bs, one 3B, one HR), four RBI, five runs scored and two walks.
CHEERS, Pt. II: Trey Cobb also picked up an award recently. The righty earned Columbia's BC Relief Pitcher of the Month honor for April. Cobb picked up three saves in eight outings and also posted a 1.13 ERA.
SWING AND MISS STUFF: Columbia hurlers lead the South Atlantic League in strikeouts and also rank in the top five across all of Minor League Baseball.

2. Inland Empire (Adv-A): 276 K 5. COLUMBIA (A): 263 K
