ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Columbia's series-finale against Asheville was cancelled on Sunday due to rain. The game will not be made up. In fact, all seven South Atlantic League games on Sunday were either postponed or cancelled.
ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia erased two separate one-run deficits on Saturday and bested Asheville in a thrilling 7-6 victory. The Fireflies were down 5-4 entering the top of the ninth before bursting for three runs. The visitors needed every bit of that late-game offense; Asheville scored a run in the bottom of the frame, but Trey Cobb slammed the door and clinched the win when he struck out Hidekel Gonzalez.
WHAT A NIGHT: Saturday's game featured 13 runs, 23 hits, three lead changes and four ties. The offense certainly ruled: the team's combined for nine extra-base hits.
NINTH-INNING POWER: On Saturday, Columbia won its first game of the season after trailing after eight innings.
STARTER'S SUCCESS: Columbia's starting pitchers have been marvelous to begin the year (Tony Dibrell, Joe Cavallaro, Jake Simon, Anthony Kay, Chris Viall, Marcel Renteria). The starter's combined ERA is 2.92 (52.1 IP, 17 ER) through 10 games.
WE'RE GOING STREAKING: Both Blake Tiberi and Jeremy Vasquez reached base again on Saturday. Those two hitters have reached base safely in all nine games they've played in this season.
CAN'T MISS: Pedro Lopez has one of the most balanced batting orders in the South Atlantic League with production coming from every spot in the lineup. Ten - yes, 10 - different Fireflies have driven in multiple runs in just eight games.
