
Lexington Falls to Hickory in Game One

L.P. FRANS STADIUM (Hickory, NC) - In the second leg of the first road trip of 2018, the Lexington Legends fell to the Hickory Crawdads 2-1. The Legends overall record drops to 8-3 and the Crawdads improve to 2-8. Reid Anderson (1-0) earned the win for Hickory and Andres Sotillet (0-1) was given the loss.
The Crawdads plated both of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. Kole Enright grounded out then Yonny Hernandez was hit by a pitch. With Hernandez on first, Eric Jenkins singled to centerfield, advancing Hernandez to second. With runners at first and second, Miguel Aparicio singled to right field, scoring Hernandez and Jenkins. The Crawdads led 2-0 after the third.
The Legends were held hitless until the sixth inning and scored their lone run of the game in the seventh. Nick Pratto grounded out then Seuly Matias doubled a line drive to right field. Matias then advanced to third on a wild pitch by the pitcher, Anderson. MJ Melendez then hit a sacrifice fly to the right fielder Aparicio, scoring Matias. Trailing 2-1, the Legends were unable to plate anymore runs.
The same two teams meet tomorrow night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, North Carolina. The Legends will send RHP Nolan Watson (0-0, 2.61 ERA) to face Hickory's RHP Tyree Thompson (0-1, 4.50 ERA).
The Legends return to Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Thursday, April 19 at 7:05 p.m. to face the Hagerstown Suns. The Legends, a Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and member of the South Atlantic League, play all home games at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky.
