Flint Firebirds News Release

Flint, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds announced today that the club has completed a trade with the London Knights.

In the trade, the Firebirds receive forward Lucas Rowe from the Knights in exchange for a conditional third-round pick in the 2020 OHL Draft that was previously acquired from Hamilton.

"We are very pleased and excited to announce the addition of Lucas to our hockey club," said Flint Firebirds Vice President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Barclay Branch. "Lucas is a player that brings skill and tenacity along with a winning pedigree and will add key elements to our hockey club moving forward."

Rowe, a native of Etobicoke, Ontario, was London's first-round selection (18th overall) in the 2017 OHL Draft. The six-foot, 175-pound right-winger has recorded one goal and one assist in 26 OHL games with the Knights thus far. Prior to London, Rowe notched an impressive 35 points (18G, 17A) in 33 games with the Mississauga Reps AAA Hockey Team in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). Additionally, he played a key role in helping his team secure the prestigious OHL Cup championship in 2017.

"I know big things are ahead in Flint and I'm excited to be a Firebird," said Rowe. "I've heard they have great fans that are loyal, the dressing room is one of the nicest in the league and that the coach's are amazing. I'm looking forward to a new start and to help make Flint become a championship caliber team."

Rowe's father, Rod, was drafted by the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. Lucas is expected to arrive to Flint for practice Tuesday and will wear #86 for the Firebirds this season.
