Tonight

The Saskatoon Blades (42-13-4-1) attempt to remain undefeated in March when they host the Swift Current Broncos (28-28-1-2) tonight at SaskTel Centre.

Tonight is the final time this season the Blades dawn their iconic "bridge" style jerseys. They're 3-0-1-0 when rocking their vintage look and hope to take a 2-1 season-series lead against the Broncos. Saskatoon's only shootout loss came at the hands of the visitors last time they faced Jan. 6th 5-4. Forwards Conner Roulette and Vaughn Watterodt both had two points in defeat.

The first meeting at SaskTel Centre was an 8-3 stomping by Saskatoon with all eight goals scored by a different Blade.

The Blue and Gold had two days off but played four games in five nights prior, three of which were played in as many days. Doing what only two other clubs have done this season, Saskatoon held Regina Pats (31-25-2-1) phenom Connor Bedard off the scoresheet. Frustration built for the consensus number one NHL draft pick who finished the evening -5.

The 5-2 victory was the Blades fifth-straight win and are one of the hottest teams in the WHL going 9-0-1-0 in their last ten. Their recent domination has landed them back in the CHL Top Ten rankings at number ten! The Blades have the third most points in the WHL sporting a 42-13-4-1 record, good for third in the Eastern Conference.

Who to Watch

There is nobody that loves scoring more than Vitebsk, Belarus' own Egor Sidorov. The 18-year-old WHL sophomore is torching opposing goaltenders this season with 40 goals in just 49 games! In four straight games, the 6-foot sniper has three multi-goal performances and seven total in that stretch. "Uncle Sido" as many like to call him is second in goals-per-game this year at 0.82, trailing only Pats superstar Bedard. A superstar himself, eight of Sidorov's tallies are game-winners which is tied for third in the WHL.

Alternate captain Trevor Wong stole the spotlight off Bedard Sunday and put it on him instead. The 5-foot-9 winger scored a hat-trick in the 5-2 win and added an assist on top of it. The Vancouver, BC. speedster has emerged as the team's top center with the 19-year-old owning the team-lead in points at 77 in just 60 games. In four games this month, Wong has recorded eight points.

Pending WHL graduate Josh Pillar is bound to breakout offensively at any moment. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect has one assist in seven games since returning to the lineup from a lower-body injury and an offensive burst is due with the pure amount of skill and talent the 20-year-old winger brings. In 20 games this season, Pillar has four goals and 13 points.
