BRANDON M.B. - The Brandon Wheat Kings shut out the Medicine Hat Tigers and pick up a big 2-0 win Wednesday night.
It was a scoreless second period with both clubs playing solid defensively with both goaltenders Nick Jones & Beckett Langkow making quality saves. Best chance was Tigers forward Brendan Lee ringing a shot off the cross bar. Shots on goal 8-7 Tigers after one period of play.
The second period the Wheat Kings found the back of the net. All 5 players on the ice touched the puck with Quinn Mantei feeding Dawson Pasternak who played a touch pass to Zakhar Polshakov allowing Polshakov to score from the bottom of the left side circle giving the Wheat Kings a 1-0 lead heading into the third period.
The Wheat Kings would hold on and add an empty net goal to win 2-0. Goal scored by Nolan Ritchie. Nick Jones earned his 1st career WHL shutout after stopping all 26 shots he faced.
