Fightin Phils Drop Final Game of Home Stand

The Reading Fightin Phils lost to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-1 on Thursday morning but finish the home stand with a 6-2 mark. The Fightin Phils are now 25-19 on the season as they head to Akron, Ohio to take on the Rubber Ducks.

Andy Burns grounded into a fielder's choice in the top of the 4th inning off Severino Gonzalez to score Ryan Schimpf and give the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead. Cameron Perkins tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the 4th inning off Fisher Cats starter Matt Boyd with a RBI single to score Brock Stassi. Schimpf broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the 8th inning as he hit a two-run home run to score Jon Berti and give the Fisher Cats a 3-1 lead.

Severino Gonzalez (4-4) allowed three runs through 7 1/3 innings, which was his longest outing of the season. He gave up six hits with five walks and three strikeouts. Hector Neris pitched two 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

The Fightin Phils will be out of town for Memorial Day weekend as they will play the Akron Rubber Ducks for four games beginning on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
