Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium Set To Host Team USA Thursday Night

Kannapolis, NC - Team USA invades Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to face Chinese Taipei in an international exhibtion in two days. That's Thursday night with the first pitch set for 7:05pm. The gates open at 6:00pm.

Team USA's roster has not been officially set but the invitee list includes a pair of Louisville Slugger First Team All-Americans and seven All-Americans in total.

LHP Chris Hernandez (Miami (FL)) and RHP Stephen Strasburg (San Diego State) headline the group as both were picked as First Team selections. RHP/Utility Mike Leake (Arizona State) was tabbed as a Second Team pick with C/1B Josh Phegley (Indiana).

OF/1B Dustin Ackley (North Carolina), RHP A.J. Griffin (San Diego) and IF Kyle Seager (North Carolina and a Kannapolis native) round out the seven All-Americans.

Last year, Team USA played a pair of exhibitions at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. That team included three players drafted in the first 13 selections of this June's Draft. 3B Pedro Alvarez (Vanderbilt) went 2nd overall to the Pirates. 1B Justin Smoak (South Carolina) was selected 11th overall by the Rangers and IF Brett Wallace (Arizona State) went 13th overall to the Cardinals.
