Staten Island FerryHawks News Release
The Staten Island FerryHawks are on a roll having won three Atlantic League games in a row.
Friday, Staten Island took both games of a doubleheader against the Charleston Dirty Birds, 10-6, and 6-3 to improve to 22-40 at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.
The Hawks were hot from the start in the opener when they put up a five-spot in the first inning. Angel Aguilar was the star of game 1 as he left the yard twice, homering first in the second and again in the fourth. He put together a solid 2 for 3 outing, crossing the plate three times and driving in four runs. Luis Castro also had a multi-hit game going 2 for 2 with two runs scored and three RBI.
The FerryHawks kept the momentum going as they started game 2 the exact way they did in game 1, with a five-run first inning.
Jack Elliot powered the uprising by blasting a ball over the wall for a grand slam to set the tone early. The FerryHawks tacked on some insurance and the pitching held strong.
Lockdown reliever Anthony Quattrocchi was the starter for the FerryHawks in this one. Quattrocchi has pitched his way to a 1.93 ERA over 18 appearances out of the pen this season, but this is his first start for the club. He finished with a final line of three innings, two hits, two runs (one earned), and four strikeouts.
The combo of Christian Capuano - who is fresh off the injured list - and Pat Quinn nailed down the win and the save as the FerryHawks.
The Dirty Birds fell to 23-39.
