Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox and Seattle Mariners have announced that Felix Hernandez is scheduled to make a rehab appearance for the AquaSox on Friday, August 2 at Funko Field.
"I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the news from [Seattle Mariners Farm Director] Andy McKay that Felix would be back in Everett," said AquaSox General Manager Danny Tetzlaff. "I'm very happy that our AquaSox fans will get another opportunity to see Felix pitch here at Funko Field."
Hernandez previously rehabbed in Everett in 2016 while recovering from a calf injury and pitched 3 -=F8 innings in front of a record-breaking crowd of 5,189. In 2003, Felix began his professional career in Everett as a 17-year-old. In his 11 games for the 'Sox that year, Hernandez was 7-2 with a 2.29 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. Two years later, he was called up to the Mariners.
In 15 major league seasons with Seattle, Hernandez put together a career 3.38 ERA in 411 starts. Along the way he made six All-Star appearances, earned two American League ERA titles, won the 2010 American League Cy Young Award and threw the 23rd perfect game in major league history on August 15, 2012. However, due to an injury, Hernandez has not pitched since May 11 of this year.
Friday's game will also be Star Wars Night at the ballpark, as well as a Funko Friday with a Star Wars-themed Funko Pop! Giveaway. There are a limited number of tickets available. Purchase tickets online at AquaSox.com, by calling the AquaSox at 425-258-2673 or by visiting the AquaSox front office at 3802 Broadway in Everett.
