FC Tulsa Unveils Full 2020 USL Championship Schedule

TAMPA - FC Tulsa unveiled its full 2020 USL Championship schedule in its first campaign in the new era of the club. Like each of the previous two seasons, FC Tulsa's schedule will consist of 34 matches, one home and one road match against each of the other 17 Western Conference teams.

Fans in Tulsa will be excited to hear that 14 of the teams 17 home matches will be played on the weekend, 13 on Saturdays and a special Friday night home match at ONEOK Field on 918 Day (September 18th) against LA Galaxy II. In total, Tulsa plays just five midweek matches out of its 34 in 2020, the fewest midweeks its had since the 2016 season.

"It's always exciting to get the regular season calendar and to put together your programming," said FC Tulsa head coach Michael Nsien. "The league is very demanding and very unique in terms of all of its geography, the time zones, altitude and climate. Right away, there are so many intriguing matchups in the first few weeks. As a club we are thrilled with the balance of travel and home and away games in terms of its sequence. We also like the opportunity to play fewer games during the week and more on Saturdays in front of our home fans. I can't wait to see the support from our home fans as we enter this new era of soccer in our city."

Across the eight-month regular season, FC Tulsa's schedule is well-balanced with no homestand or roadtrip longer than three matches. Tulsa will play at least one home and one road match in every month of the season. In addition to playing at home on 918 Day, FC Tulsa will also play one of its three midweek matches at home on Saint Patrick's Day (March 17). That match is the middle one in a three-match homestand between March 14-21 that coincides with many Tulsa-area schools' Spring Break.

The 2020 season finale will be one of the hottest tickets of the season as FC Tulsa will host its in-state rival OKC Energy FC at ONEOK Field on October 17 in a game that could have significant ramifications for USL Championship Playoffs spots or seeding.
