FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Sept. 3) - Peter Luccin, Kenny Cooper and Jonathan Top scored for the FC Dallas Reserves in a 3-2 win over the Red Bull New York Reserves today at the Red Bulls Training Facility in Hanover, NJ.
The Red Bulls scored the first goal of the match in the 19th minute when Amando Moreno dribbled the ball down the right flank before crossing the ball to Ruben Bover on the left. Bover took a touch before firing a shot off the right post and into the back of the net.
FC Dallas Reserves answered in the 30th minute. Diego de la Tejera controlled a pass from Cooper before playing the ball to Peter Luccin. From about 16-yards out, Luccin's low shot to the bottom left corner of the goal rolled past a diving Ryan Meara. Luccin's goal came in the defensive midfielder's first game since returning from a right ACL tear that occurred during preseason.
In the 38th minute, Dallas scored another goal to take a 2-1 lead. Top took a hard shot from the right side of the goal, which Meara saved, but the rebound came back out to Cooper and he blasted it into the empty net for his second goal in consecutive MLS Reserve League matches.
Two minutes later, the Red Bulls tied the match, 2-2, when Andre Akpan hit a right-footed shot. FC Dallas goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck was there to make the initial save but the rebound came right back out to Akpan, who calmly guided the ball into the back of the net.
In the 63rd minute, Dallas regained the lead off a goal from Top. A cross came in from the flank and was deflected inside the area. The loose ball fell to Top, who poked the game-winning goal past Meara.
The victory improved the FC Dallas Reserves Record to 2-6-1. The team has four matches remaining this season, three of which will be played at home. The final away match of the year is up next, a Sunday, Sept. 15 match versus the Rapids Reserves (4-6-1) in Colorado.
