LA Galaxy Forward Robbie Keane Voted MLS Player of the Week

September 3, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK (Tuesday, September 3, 2013) - LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 27 of the 2013 MLS season.

Robbie Keane had another strong performance Saturday night, playing a critical role in LA Galaxy's 3-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. He finished the night with two goals and an assist.

In the 26th minute, Keane set up Landon Donovan's 132nd MLS regular-season goal with a pass that sent Donovan to goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Keane scored his first goal of the night in the 43rd minute off a penalty kick sent to the bottom left corner of the net.

The Irish international found the back of the net again in the 67th minute, volleying a Gyasi Zardes cross through traffic and past San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch, making it a 3-0 affair.

The LA Galaxy are back in action Saturday, September 7 when they face the Colorado Rapids at The StubHub Center (10:30 p.m. ET).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
