FC Dallas Honors Juneteenth and Pride Month During Two Matches in June
June 17, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Dallas News Release
Frisco, TX - FC Dallas' commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion continues during the month of June as the club announced its matchday initiatives to honor Juneteenth on Saturday, June 19 and celebrate June's Pride month with Y'all Means All Night on Sunday, June 27th.
Commemorating Juneteenth
In honor of Juneteenth, which marks the end of slavery in the United States, FC Dallas players will wear Juneteenth-inspired numbers on their jerseys which celebrate Black culture and symbolize ancestry, liberation and cultural vibrancy. The numbers, designed by artist and educator Israel Solomon, are presented in a bold and empowering sharp-line red, black and green pattern. The jerseys will be auctioned post-game to raise funds for Dallas-based Dallas Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation whose mission is to create an inclusive city by addressing race and racism through narrative change, relationship building and equitable policies and practices. For information on the auction, including how to bid, please visit MLSAuctions.com.
FC Dallas will have Oak Cliff-based performer Chimberly Carter sing "Lift Every Voice and Sing", also referred to as the Black National Anthem, prior to the match.
FC Dallas' match against Minnesota United, which is presented by Papa John's, is also Fan Appreciation Night. Guests in attendance have the chance to win free Papa John's pizza for a year, autographed FC Dallas merchandise and much more. Fans will also enjoy fireworks immediately following the match.
Y'all Means All Night
FC Dallas will host Y'all Means All Night on June 27 in honor of the LGBTQIA+ community. FC Dallas players will wear special Love Unites training tops during pregame warmups. The shirts will be available in the FC Dallas Fan Shop as well as Soccer90 while supplies last.
The Love Unites training tops will be auctioned following the match with all proceeds from the auction benefitting Dallas Hope Charities which focuses on reducing homelessness among young LGBTQIA+ adults in North Texas. For information on the auction, including how to bid, please register with DASH Auction.
In cooperation with Major League Soccer and the White House's vaccine initiative, fans attending the June 27th match can receive 30% off their total merchandise purchase, including Love Unites training tops, at all Toyota Stadium merchandise locations with proof of a COVID19 vaccine. The discount does not apply to sale merchandise and cannot be combined with other promotional discounts.
