Shea, Gregore Prepared for D.C. After Three-Week Training Camp
June 17, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Following the international break, Inter Miami returns to action this weekend with its second matchup of the campaign against D.C. United. Ahead of resuming the 2021 MLS regular season, defender / midfielder Brek Shea highlighted the hard work put in by the coaching staff and the players over the past three weeks.
"We used this break to rest, to work really hard, to get back to basics and find ourselves, to be prepared for this game and go out there and try our best to play an exciting game and get a result," said Shea. "We're going to go out and give it everything that we got. We've worked really hard the past few weeks, so I think we're prepared for the match."
Brazilian midfielder Gregore echoed his teammates' sentiment, noting that the team took no days off during the international break.
"The past three weeks were important for us to work hard and evolve as a team... We're focused on ourselves and continuing to improve so we can get the results.
"We've been working on being a more balanced team so we concede less goals. We have been working on our build up so we can create more goal scoring opportunities. We have also been working on defending better so we can have a good game and get back on track," stated Gregory.
Both players also noted the team's attitude and unity ahead of the fixture against D.C. on Saturday as Inter Miami seeks to get back to winning ways.
"We're going to be a team that's going to be together, a team that's committed, a team that's going to work really hard and a team that is going to fight for every ball defensively and offensively," explained Shea.
"I believe in our next match we will have more of an identity and a better attitude to go out and get the three points...We know our potential and we are aware that we can do better as a group. We spend a lot of time together, so it's up to us to make sure that we're working hard to get back on track," concluded Gregore.
