PCL1 Sacramento River Cats

Fans at Raley Field when Cats Clinch Division Crown Eligible for Half-Price Playoff Tickets

August 24, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - With a 12.5 game lead over both Fresno and Reno and a "Magic Number" of just three (3), the Sacramento River Cats have announced a special offer where all fans in attendance at Raley Field when the team clinches their 8th Southern Division championship in the past 10 years will receive half-price tickets for 2009 PCL playoff tickets. The "Magic Number" refers to the number of combined Cats victories and losses by the second-place team needed for Sacramento to clinch the division title. The River Cats could clinch the division title as early as Tuesday, when they take on the Portland Beavers at 7:05 p.m.

Ticket stubs from the clinching game can be redeemed at the Raley Field Ticket Office for half-price playoff tickets to any game(s) during the '09 postseason, subject to availability. Individual tickets for Tuesday's game, as well as other possible clinching games this week, are currently available at the Raley Field Ticket Office or online at www.rivercats.com. The River Cats final regular season games at Raley Field continue through this Sunday, August 30th. 2009 playoff tickets are now on sale at www.rivercats.com/playoffs.

This season, the Cats have the opportunity to win both playoff series at home and celebrate in front of the Raley Field faithful. The team will play games 1 and 2 (Sept. 9 and 10) of the 5-game Pacific Conference Championship Series on the road before hosting games 3, 4 and 5 (games 4 and 5 if necessary) at Raley Field (Sept. 11, 12 and 13). If the season ended today, the Cats' first-round opponent would be the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies), who own a 5.5 game lead in the Pacific Conference North Division.

If the River Cats advance to the PCL Championship Series (also a best-of-five format), they will again play games 1 and 2 (Sept. 15 and 16) on the road and host games 3, 4 and 5 (games 4 and 5 if necessary) at Raley Field (Sept. 18, 19 and 20). If the River Cats were to win this series and be crowned Pacific Coast League Champions for the third straight year, they would then play the International League Champion in the Triple-A Championship Game in Oklahoma City broadcast worldwide on ESPN2 (Sept. 22).
