Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox lost their third straight contest to the Reno Aces by the score of 5-4 on Monday evening at Security Service Field in front of 1,745 fans.

The Sky Sox got out to an early two run lead courtesy of a two run single by Matt Murton in the bottom of the first that plated Eric Young Jr. and Mike McCoy. Reno cut the lead in half on a solo homer by shortstop Ed Rogers in the second and then tied it up in the third when starting pitcher Hector Ambriz doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.

Catcher John Hester broke up the 2-2 tie in the fifth with a three-run bomb, his ninth of the year, off Sox starter Brandon Hynick. The Sky Sox rallied to score two in the bottom half of the fifth on an RBI triple by Matt Miller and an RBI single by Dan Ortmeier but would be stopped there.

Ambriz (7-9) picked up the win after giving up four runs, two earned, on nine hits over six innings and Hynick (10-8) took the loss after surrendering five runs, four earned, on eight hits in his six innings of work. Former Sky Sox reliever Scott Dohmann notched his fourth save of the season after working around a two-out double by Young Jr.

The series finale Tuesday night will feature RH Alan Johnson (10-6, 5.47) for the Sox versus RH Cesar Valdez (6-5, 4.60) for Reno.
