Beavers' Wade LeBlanc Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Pacific Coast League today named Portland Beavers left-hander Wade LeBlanc its Pitcher of the Week for the span inclusive of August 17-23.

LeBlanc, 25, went 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA (1er, 13.0ip) and struck out 12 batters while allowing just six hits and two walks over the week. After beating Omaha at PGE Park with a six-inning, one-run performance on Aug. 17, LeBlanc shut down Sacramento on the road on Aug. 22 with seven innings of scoreless ball in which he matched a season high with seven strikeouts.

In 24 games (20 starts) with the Beavers this season, LeBlanc is 4-9 with a 3.87 ERA (52er, 121.0ip) and a team-high 95 strikeouts. LeBlanc has also made two starts with the San Diego Padres this season, going 0-1 with a 14.54 ERA.

LeBlanc, who earned two Pitcher of the Week awards in 2008 with Portland, is the first Beaver to earn the honor this season.

Beavers outfielder Chad Huffman won Player of the Week for Aug. 3-9.

Omaha's Brian Buchanan was selected as the league's Player of the Week after hitting .333 (6-for-18) with a double, two homers and 12 RBIs in just four games.
